I didn’t realize that there was a thriving demo scene for the Atari 2600 as well. The music in this one is downright impressive.

Harmony Cartridge for the Atari 2600 is up for pre-order. Some features for you to drool over:

The board fits into a standard Atari shell (with slots dremeled out for the SD card and USB of course).

Features: Plays all legacy 2600 games up to 32k. Cloudscout played a couple of Atari 2600 games he’d never played last Saturday. The first was Jr. Pac-Man. The second? Medieval Mayhem. We played two full rounds which requires one person to win five games. I took the first set pretty quickly. The second set was not as easily won–but Sparby (coming from behind) took honors and beat us all:

ImagicBelow are the links to an old PBS business program, showcasing Imagic when they were just getting off the ground. I little slice of life of the video game industry, just before the mid-80s video game crash. You get a sense that this frenzy over video games in the early 80s was very similar to the dot com boom and bust.
