This is one of the better flash games I’ve found online. It’s a good way to waste either ten minutes or several hours and in the spirit of all suchgames gets insanely hard after several rounds.

IGN and other PC game sites reported yesterday the first major news we’ve had in a long while on Starcraft 2. It appears that the franchise will definitely be continued at some point. Kind of.
Forgive me if I’m not impressed.
To say something is kind of definite is a contradiction. However, this is exactly how Blizzard has handled news of the both the Starcraft and Diablo franchises. IGN quotes Blizzard Chief Operating Officer Paul Sams as saying, “There is no doubt that we will continue the StarCraft and Diablo franchise.” Unfortunately, as long as Blizzard dances around these two franchises without doing any real work, there will be doubt. Lots of it.
The way Blizzard has handled its franchises is atrocious. Between the two mentioned above and Warcraft, they have three of the most successful and popular computer game series ever made. This leaves one wondering why they continue to do absolutely nothing with two of these series.
Four years ago, Blizzard announced Starcraft Ghost. A first person shooter that would be released on consoles only, not the PC. Now even that has been canceled. There are two major problems with this. First, the choice to release a non PC, non real-time strategy game alienates the original audience. Second, these four years could have been spent developing Starcraft 2. Now they’ve been completely wasted.
I have no problem with games taking a long time. Half-Life and Half-Life 2 were six years apart. It was a long wait, but I’m glad they took the time and did it right. My objection to Blizzard isn’t the length of time between games but the fact that they’ve given their fans almost nothing in the Diablo and Starcraft franchises since Diablo 2 and Starcraft. If they were to announce the sequels tomorrow and it was ten years before we saw the completed game, I wouldn’t complain so long as they were working.
To dance around the issue without committing is disrespectful to Blizzard’s fans. They’ve produced some of the best games in the last decade and will no doubt produce many more. Let’s hope they also remember that there’s a fan base out there that’s been very loyal and deserves a little more than eight years of half-hearted efforts and zero commitment.
